12 Volt LED strip information

In the item description, note the number of LEDs on a ribbon, each of which is specified per metre. This can be between 30 and 120 LEDs, which of course has a significant effect on the luminosity and also on the power consumption of an LED strip. Important to note: The protection classes, IP 20 (for dry indoor areas) or IP65 (also suitable for outdoor areas, protected against ingress of dust and jet water).

Our LED strips are absolutely professional quality for your low voltage applications. The SMD construction promises miniaturised size with the highest possible light output.

Three types of white for LED tape

Not all white is the same. With our LED strips, you have the choice between three different shades of white. These are: Cold white, abbreviated with KW in the illustrations of the articles; neutral white, abbreviated with NW; and warm white, for which you will find the abbreviation WW in the pictures.

What do these terms stand for? – They indicate how ‘cold’ or ‘warm’ a white light is perceived by the human eye. 6000 K(elvin) stands for the colour temperature of a cool white, 4000 K for the impression of neutral white and 3000 K for warm white as the characteristic of an LED strip. You will be most familiar with this from the comparison of artificial light and daylight, where the former has a ‘warmer’, yellowish hue, while the latter has a ‘colder’, pure white, bluish-white effect on the human eye.

Your decorations or intended uses with LED strips may try to reflect this and you will find the right strip in the Parcolux-LED range. Further back in the shop, where there is artificial light, a strip with 3000 K, for example, would have a more harmonious effect, while 4000 to 6000 K would be more appropriate in the daylight at the front.

Note on cooling the 12 volt LED strip

For a long service life of the LED strip, we recommend cooling it, e.g. by installing it in LED aluminium profiles.

Connecting 12 volt LED strips to the clamping system

To ensure a secure hold of the leads in the clamping system, we recommend using twisted and non-tinned strands. Cables with a maximum cross-section of 0.75mm² can be used for connection to the clamping system.
